Fifty years in North America
We celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Christ Apostolic Church in America with thanksgiving. According to the Golden Jubilee programme, the faith was planted in the Americas fifty years ago by the late Pastor A. A. Oyedeji and others, and in his welcome address Regional Superintendent Pastor T. A. O. Omolayo Agbeja likened that small beginning to a mustard seed.
The programme recalls that Christ Apostolic Church began in Nigeria in 1918 as a prayer group, the Precious Stone Society, which came into contact with Faith Tabernacle in Philadelphia. The Great Revival of 1930 at Oke Ooye followed under Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola. Today, the President's letter notes, the church has more than 1.3 million members in 24 nations, seventeen theological seminaries, and Joseph Ayo Babalola University at Ikeji-Arakeji.
The Chairman's address remembered the pastors who have gone before us, among them A. A. Adeojo, J. O. Adeyanju, A. S. Shasanmi, Ogunjeminiyi and J. T. F. Brown, and prayed for the next fifty years.
